THE QUINTON STAGES RALLY WELCOMES THE HISTORICS!

Quinton Motor Club is proud to announce the inclusion of the Historic Rally Classes on the 2008 Quinton Stages Rally on 5th July. The historic classes are open to all vehicles in H2 (Pre-1971) and H3 (1971-1981) as per the current BTRDA regulations and run within the main event field.

However, competitors within both classes will compete for The Classic Motor Show Trophy which is to be awarded for the first time.  Clarion Events, the company who organise The Classic Motor Show held between the 14th and 16th November at the NEC in Birmingham, will also invite the winning crew to display their car and sponsors on the main stage during the Show.

The Quinton Stages Rally is based around the legendary rallying area of the Epynt Military Ranges in Mid-Wales.  With the start and finish located at the Castle Hotel in Llandovery and central servicing based at the heart of Epynt, road mileage is kept to a minimum, whilst allowing exclusive access to some of the smoothest forest roads in the country.

An addition to this popular event for 2008 is the inclusion of the Monument stage, which has not been used in club rallying for some years.  Other classic stages in the Epynt area currently used on Wales Rally GB, include the tremendous Route 60 and challenging Halfway Forest, as well as a visit to the awesome and rarely-used stage around Caeo Forest.

If you feel you would like to join the historic classes on this years Quinton Stages Rally please download regulations from the website or email entries@quintonstages.org.uk.  If you are up for it, why not take up the Historic Challenge?

THE QUINTON RALLY FIRST

Quinton Stages Rally showed its commitment to encouraging newcomers to forest rallying by introducing the Quinton Forest Experience in 2007.  For 2008, we are embracing the principles of offering a unique experience for beginners at minimal cost and the BTRDA Rally First initiative by presenting a tremendous opportunity – the Quinton Rally First.

Our enthusiasm has been encouraged by the support of key participants in the rally world and this has allowed us to create a terrific chance for first-timers to forest rallying.

  • The Quinton Rally First is primarily supported by Nicky Grist Motorports and Nicky himself will be hosting a pre-event supper and briefing to which all QRF entrants will be invited.
  • Nicky will then be on hand, supporting competitors throughout the rally – at the start, in the regroup area and at the finish, to give his support and invaluable advice and help.
  • For competitors who opt to join Quinton MC, Nicky is offering a 15% discount on all rally equipment available via his website - nickygrist.com.
  • At the end of the day, Nicky will choose a ‘Star of the Day’ from amongst the QRF first-timers and will present them with The Andreas Mikkelsen Trophy – a new award donated by a former ‘first-timer’, who won the QSR on his first rally in 2006 and is now a WRC star.
  • In addition, awards will be presented to both QRF class winners, together with commemorative photos of Andreas Mikkelsen.
  • The first 10 QFE first-timer entrants will be supplied with free Rallitrak radios, courtesy of Rallitrak and the QSR Organising Team.
  • Through the generosity of Brian Patterson, the first 8 QFE first-timer entrants will be supplied with free descriptive Patterson Pacenotes for the event.  During the Friday evening briefing, Nicky Grist will be running through a DVD of the stages and helping competitors with their marking of those notes.
  • Carless Fuels are supporting the QRF by supplying 25 litres of super-unleaded fuel free to the first 10 QFE first-timer entrants, together with the opportunity to purchase additional supplies at below pump cost.
  • Silverstone Tyres are backing the QRF by offering 6 tyres for the price of 4 to the first 10 QFE first-timer entrants.

All these restricted offers will be available to regular BTRDA Rally First competitors after priority has been given to genuine first-time forest rallying entrants.  However, all will receive an invitation to the Friday evening supper and briefing with Nicky Grist.

ALL competitors in the Rally First classes will receive an entry discount of £50 and will be able to participate in one of the top BTRDA Series rallies, covering up to 45 miles of classic mid-Wales stages that we expect to be in the prime condition they usually are for this event.  We look forward to you joining us for the opportunity of a lifetime!  This is a unique chance - not to be missed!
